A common comment from students is that Japanese writing is difficult. This method of learning script is not only easy but fun. The aim of this workshop is to provide participants with a method for introducing Japanese script from lesson one without the need for romaji.
There is a specific focus on each step of literacy development from individual
characters to extracting information from authentic written text, including
ideas for producing higher order thinking tasks. Sue will outline games and
strategies to provide teachers with ways to build students’ skills and
confidence in reading and writing Japanese.
